Who am I?
I am Dimitra, a sociologist, educator and artist with a journey from social research to education, art and sustainable practices.
I express myself through photography, literature/poetry and singing, using these mediums to explore humanity. I truly believe that we learn and grow when we listen to the stories of others. There's a wealth of knowledge and inspiration in those precious stories and I'm on a quest to hear them, understand them and use that understanding to drive positive change.
Beyond everything I am a woman who, from a very young age, had experiences that made her realise that life and death are very interconnected. The symbolism of the boat moves me, reminding me this bridge between life & death: the movement, the fluidity and the cyclical rhythm of nature.
Now, more than ever, in modern times of unjust and marginalizing politics, the first way to resist is to recognize our privilege of living in peace-while there is war and conflict in Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan, and other regions; while many minorities around the world face poverty and systemic oppression. Amid the rise of a global environmental, humanitarian and economic crisis. To speak up with our voice and actions. To slow down, bond and care for each other.
The journey comes from within, after years of inner work. I now open it to the world - with humility and a strong intention to bring to the surface something that concerns all of us.
Something that will reconnect us, both within and beyond ourselves.

The Myth Of Demeter
Demeter, the goddess of the earth, loses her daughter Persephone when Hades takes her to the underworld. This separation causes the earth to wither, showing how deeply connected human life is to nature’s cycles.
-
Descent (Loss)
Demeter faces the absence of her daughter and learns great lessons, a great symbolism for the challenging reality of grief and disconnection in human experience.
-
Search (Journey)
Determined, Demeter roams the earth relentlessly, embodying the human effort to find meaning and bring restoration.
-
Ascent (Return)
When Persephone returns, the earth blossoms again. This is a representation of renewal and tranformation, reminding us the cyclical nature of life and the significance of community.
